Nintendo and Universal Parks- Peach's Castle at the center

Nintendo recently announced their partnership with Universal Studios to create a series of Nintendo themed rides and attractions across the various Universal Parks around the world. The minds of all us Nintendo fans have already gone crazy imagining the possibilities. Join me as I go into my nintendo loving psyche and explore what I think these attractions should be. At the heart of this article is my dream of being able to go to and explore Peach's Castle from Super Mario 64! So without further ado, let's begin!

Cinderella's Castle

Orlando Florida's "Disney World" has Cinderella's Iconic Castle in the middle of its "Magic Kingdom" theme park. "Disney Land" in California also has the iconic castle. You get to explore said castle by walking through its corridors, and seeing the movies events unfold in front of you through all sorts of disney park animatronics and effects. Now imagine for one moment how cool it would be to have a similar experience but inside Princess Peach's iconic Castle from Super Mario 64.

Flying towards an epic castle!

Super Mario 64 is my favorite game of all time. I love its hub world. The center of the game is a gorgeous castle in the Mushroom Kingdom's Toad Town.  A gorgeous courtyard greets you complete with a moat of water and bridge to the entrance. When you enter the castle you enter the pristine first floor which has the games first few stages. The Dungeon-Like Basement is a more ominous environment that will take you to more intense levels.  Let's not forget the backyard with the Boo Ghosts. We have more upstairs floors [Mirrors!! The Giant Clock! The endless staircase to Bowser's Stage! etc].

The Lobby

Map of the castle's first floor

The castle's look changes a bit from game to game. And I have no doubt that IF we get the park it won't look exactly like the one in Mario 64. And they probably won't build all 4 floors. I don't expect to be able to walk into all the rooms with the paintings. But as long as what they build looks awesome then I will be happy. If it happens. I repeat, IIIIFFFFF it happens. Also, I want Mario at the end of the atraction. Much like Mickey appears at the end of the "Mickey's House" attraction at Disney Land. I want to shake Mario's hand and take a picture with him! agaggagaa.

Castle and the kingdom

I do think there should be plenty of environments to walk through and explore and take pictures. I would love to walk through some DK Jungle environments, Metroid inspired corridors and derelict ship environments, Zelda inspired environments as well, etc. The park's hub should be Mushroom  Kingdom inspired. Imagine walking through Toad Town from Super Mario Galaxy. Imagine how cool it could look like at night. Just remember the festival that is happening during the beginning of Super Mario Galaxy. Fireworks and all sorts of effects please! snow during christmas please!! monsters like Goombas and Koopas running amok during Halloween please!! Honestly, I'm more interested in these types of attractions than rides. Especially than fast rides. I don't do those. There should be some of course, but don't expect to see me riding the F-Zero roller coaster... ever!!!

I want to walk through the Mushroom Kingdom

I want to meet the Mario Bros!

I think a Star Fox ride could be amazing. It should be inspired by "Star Tours". Maybe you get to ride on the "Great Fox". You will have an animatronic of Rob 64 with you on the ship, instead of R2 and 3PO like in "Star-Tours". Experience what it's like to be in an epic space battle. Watch the Star-Fox team's earwigs on screen as they fight Andross' armada!

Let's help the Star-Fox team fight evil

Imagine Andross on-screen instead of Vader

They should take a page from "Star Tours" and the Design of the Star-Fox games and have multiple paths. That way there can be variations of the ride. Everytime you go could have a different experience. Have multiple battles and planets in each session. And combine them differently. So let's say 9 planets total, and different random combinations of 3. Similar to what "Star Tours" does.

 C-3PO is your guide!

Rob will be your guide in the Star-Fox ride

Maybe there could be other rides that put you in the cockpit of an Arwing and let you fly it. Imagine arcade-style enclosed cabinets, like the recent game "Star Wars Battle Pod". But maybe with some movement as you play.

This, but Star-Fox!

Instead of taking down the Death Star, take down a boss from Star-Fox 64!

I wanna ride an Arwing!

Metroid has so many possibilities. It would be awesome to have a scary attraction where you do more than just walk through Metroid environments. You get to interact with the environment, or rather the environment interacts with you. Imagine a "Halloween Horror Nights" Metroid inspired maze! You walk through dark scary maze while space pirates come out of nowhere and scare you! You will also encounters all sorts of puppets, animatronics, etc, of Metroid Aliens and Monsters. And let's end the maze with a confrontation with Mother Brain or Ridley much like the AVP maze had the Alien Queen  at the end of it's AVP-R inspired maze!

I wanna feel what it is to be a bounty hunter like samus!

I wanna be scared by space pirates and other Metroid enemies

I love Halloween Horror Nights

Could there also be a Metroid Ride? Maybe a Men in Black type ride where you ride in a vehicle and have to shoot at enemies from a far. I have never been on this MIB ride so I don't know if it's fun. I have only seen it on TV [I love those "Travel Channel" documentaries about theme parks!]. Still, it seems like an interesting idea.

I wanna meet Samus and fight alongside her

F-Zero Roller-Coaster, that's a no brainer. Maybe an enclosed coaster like "The Mummy Ride". Cause I don't remember many loops in F-Zero games. The intense speed of F-Zero would please thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies.

Epic game!

Who wants to ride the Blue Falcon?

F-Zero GX was fast! Imagine that experience but in real life!

Nintendo's Flagship vehicle based game is another no-brainer. This one could be more kid friendly than the intense F-Zero ride. Will it be a real go-kart ride where you compete in a track against other attendees? or a simulated experience so it can be crazier and more intense? It could mix VR via a helmet head set, and the kart you ride will move in reaction to how you play. The combination of VR and motion will make you feel like you are in a Mario Kart race.

 First person Mario Kart

Make us feel like we're competing in a "real" Mario Kart race

Pokemon could benefit from VR [Virtual Reality] as well. Imagine being a Pokemon trainer and battling against other park guests. Use the VR head set to see the fight, and use your voice to shout the commands. This could be a Pokemon fan's dream come true.

battle other trainers!

Pokemon petting zoo filled with cute small Pokemon animatronics and puppets. As well as Pokemon inspired environments where you walk and see Pokemon in their natural habitats. Think Pokemon Snap but turned into an attraction. I would love to walk through that attraction and take an obscene amount of pictures and video footage!

 Pet cute Pokemon

Take lots of pictures

And during "Halloween Horror Nights" experience the haunted Pokemon Tower haunted by Ghost Type Pokemon like Dengar and Ghastly. How about walking through a Team Rocket Lab where mutated Pokemon have escaped! Beware, Mew-Two has been set free and he does not want to be disturbed! These mazes could benefit from 3D glasses like some of the Music inspired 3D Mazes in "Horror Nights"

Are you brave enough to go into the Pokemon Tower?

Team Rocket is experimenting with Pokemon, and they have escaped!

Beware of Mew-Two

I can't even begin to imagine the possibilities for Legend of Zelda Rides and Attractions. VR could be of use, since people swinging fake swords and firing arrows at fake enemies could be very weird. You can have more control over the experience if it's VR. have a sword in your hand, or a Bow [with motions sensors inside of course]. Ride on a Wagon being pulled by Epona, who is being ridden by Link. Keep the wagon safe from Bokoblins and other Hyrule Field dangers. The sequence could be similar to the scene in Twilight Princess when Link is protecting the Wagon from Bokoblins, and the sequence in Majoras Mask where you have to protect Cremia's Milk Wagon from the bandits!

Cremia's Wagon

Escort that wagon!

"Halloween Horror Nights" could have some Zelda inspired mazes! Imagine walking through the Lost Woods at night! You are lost in the Woods and it is over-run with Stalfos, Re-deads, and other night-time Hyrule enemies. The Skull Kid is once more possessed by the demonic Majora's Mask, and he doesn't want anyone to leave his woods... alive.

Enter the Lost Woods, if you dare!

You are lost, find your way out

Beware the Skull-Kid

Do you remember those rides that take you through the events of a story or movie via a moving cart? Think of rides like Peter-Pan, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Pirates of the Carribean. And let's not forget the "Haunted Mansion". Well, Imagine going through a similar ride that takes you through the most iconic events of the Zelda franchise. Seeing those environments and those animatronics would be awesome! I wanna see Toon Link stabbing Ganon in the head just a few feet in front of me! agagaag.

 Peter Pan ride

The Haunted Mansion, one of my favorites!

I wanna see Link kill Ganondorf!

Also, who remembers the Indiana Jones stunt show from the Disney Parks? How about seeing Link fight Ganon and other evil threats on stage! hell yes!

Indy stunt show!

Indiana Jones

There are many other franchises that could be used besides the ones I mentioned in the previous sections. DK environments would be cool, same goes for rides? and how about exploring some creepy jungle environments during "Horror Nights"! Donkey Kong 64 had many creepy environments to get inspiration from! I think Pikmin could lend itself to some awesome enviroments. Imagine walking through an area with big leaves, ants, and other small creatures. I'm reminded of the Honey I Shrunk the Kids environment I walked through as a kid during my visit to "Disney World Orlando Florida".

 Explore DK Jungles

I wanna meet these two!

 Walk among the Pikmin

 Honey I Shrunk the Kids

Honey I shrunk the Kids

Kirby or Animal Crossing Merry Go-Round? Pilotwings Simulator! That would incredible. Experience what it's like to ride a plane or even throw yourself of a plane but without actually doing it in real life! Wave Race! Jet-Ski simulator! How about some Yoshi's Island inspired rides as well!

I want to experience riding the vehicles from Pilotwings

Let's visit the towns from Animal Crossing

Let's not forget riding the Jet-Skis from Rave Race

 I haven't forgotten you Kirby...

... Or you Yoshi

I know I'm getting carried away here! chances are that the park will be rather small. Most of the rides and attractions will focus on the same 3 or franchises [Mario, Zelda, Pokemon]. We will be very lucky if we get some Star-Fox, and Metroid attractions. And things like Pikmin and Pilotwings, you can forget it! Only in our dreams. But I can' help but imagine the possibilities. I hope we have the characters around the park. I wanna take pictures with Mario, DK, Toon Link, Samus, etc.

I wanna know what you guys think! Comment and let me know your hopes and dreams for Nintendo at Universal Studios! If you have articles or videos about this subject then let me know! I may do a video on this subject later on so stay tuned!
